Soo I've Been Sewing...

These past two posts are going to make me seem like Susie Homemaker (my aunt called me this earlier today). I assure you, I am no where near prepared for such an adult life. I still frequent the very handy book my Aunt Lisa gave me upon graduation, Where's Mom Now That I Need Her?

These outfit alterations came as the result of 1) receiving hand-me-downs that are too large for me, but still adorable, and 2) filling my currently bountiful free time with Urban Active and POP Pilates (led by a perky Asian, Cassey, who started Blogilates and can be found on YouTube here).

The first transformation came from an old skirt of mine... and I just now realized how much I look like Jared from Subway or people in weight loss commercials. I wore this skirt lower on my hips in high school--don't worry, I haven't lost THAT much weight. So I took the skirt in, by tacking it twice in the back.

Probably my favorite transformation was from a hand-me-down dress. With its medium size and boxy shape, it looked more like a bathing suit cover-up than a dress, like I'd like it. Soooooooooo I trimmed up the sides and took in the waist, and TADAAAA. a new dress!

After!!!!
Can't wait to wear this on our family vacation!

This last outfit was inspired by instructions from Cotton and Curls. Although the shirt she made was to fit over her pregnant belly, mine I adjusted for the non-maternal. I took an extra large polo I found at Goodwill (for $3.50, I may add) and cut off the collar, snipped it to be a wide neck, trimmed the sleeves, and tucked in the sides. Needless to say, it consumed an afternoon, but I am quite proud of the finished product.

That's all for now, folks. Have a great weekend!!
